Everything Starts by Breathing
If you’re about to start practicing Yoga, you have to understand how important it is to learn to breathe correctly before, during, and after a session. Good breathing will give you balance between mind, body, and spirit.
During your Yoga session, you will need to focus on your breathing. A good way to know if you are breathing correctly is pushing out your belly when you inhale, and contracting it once you exhale.
After a few classes you will notice it becomes easier to breathe in order to control your body. The ideal state is breathing 1 to 4 times per minute, in a continuous flow, without fully emptying your lungs nor holding your breath overtime. With practice, your lungs will increase their capacity. Being in control of your breathing means your mind will remain calm which in turn will allow for a better concentration.
Are you up for a challenge? Under your instructor’s supervision, try to control exhaling. If you can overcome the natural need of inhaling right after you expel your breath, you will be on your way to gain inner peace.
