Why Meditate?
Against many popular beliefs, meditation is not about achieving levels of deep concentration. This millenary technique is subjective, and each one of us can define his or her own goals. Some meditate to feel more relaxed, others to get rid of some negative aspects of their lives. For example, for Tibetan monks it is a way to connect with a higher divinity through prayers.
There aren’t specific rules about meditation, but it is important to feel comfortable and not be interrupted. Many aspects of meditating depend exclusively on you, but if you are willing to meditate, music and candles can help you concentrate and not pay attention to things surrounding you.
For many scientists, meditation can be beneficial to our lives and they recommend practicing it on a daily basis. Some of these benefits include a higher self esteem and creativity; less stress; improvement of our natural healing processes and greater control of our physiological body functions.
